An Efficient Power-Aware Multicast Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Abstract

Ad hoc wireless networks are organized by a collection of wireless devices. Any pre-established wired or wireless infrastructures and the centralized administration are unnecessary. Due to the mobile hosts can move arbitrarily and the resources of mobile devices such as the network bandwidth, and power consumption of mobile hosts are limited, to design multicast routing protocols becoming more challenging. However, there are many applications achieved by multicasting such as video conference, distance learning, etc. How to deign an efficient multicast routing is very important. In this paper we will propose an efficient and power-aware multicast routing algorithm in ad hoc networks. Simulation results show our approach has better performance in packet delivery ratio, number of alive nodes, number of alive members, throughput than ODMRP, MZR, HMP, E2MRP.
