dc.description.abstractSoftware reliability is one of the most important aspects of software quality. Accurately modeling software reliability, and predicting its possible trends are essential to determining overall product’s reliability. Until now, many software reliability growth models (SRGMs) are proposed and they can help us to estimate time or resource needed to reach a reliability target. Actually, some important metrics can also be easily determined through SRGMs. One of the most important applications of SRGM is to determine the software release time. In this paper, we develop a useful method to compute the software release time considering cost, reliability and testing efficiency during the development phase. We first review a SRGM with generalized logistic testingeffort function and change-point. The proposed model can be precisely to illustrate the effectiveness of introducing new testing techniques. We then address the problem of how to decide when to stop testing and when to release software for use. In addressing the optimal release time, we consider cost and reliability factors. Moreover, we introduce the concept of testing efficiency. Several theorems and numerical illustrations are presented.
