This paper comprises four parts. Firstly, it respectively proofreads and collates Wang Chien’s 100 Kung Poems and the 100 Kung Poems of Madame Hwa Roei (Madame Flower Bud). The second part intends to further comb and tidy up the forming process of the Kung poems and, by perusing Li Po’s and Wang ch’ang Ling’s poetry, find out their influence on the Kung poems. Besides, it also examines the Kung Poetry of the Southern Dynasty and that of the early T’ang Dynasty and shows how _x000D_ much they influenced the two sets of the 100 Kung Poems._x000D_ The third part, analyzing and paralleling their contents with emphasis on such essential requirements of those times as clothing, food, housing, transportation, birthday celebration and recreation, aims to discover the difference between the two kinds of 100 Kung Poems under discussion. Lastly, this paper summarizes the _x000D_ characteristics and values of the poetic arts of the two poets, viewing their 100 Kung Poems as independent of the tradition of the ancient Chinese poetry, of the traditional role of the ancient Chinese female, and of the tradition of the ancient Chinese writings on sexuality.
