| dc.description.abstract | 本文透過對清代四十二位人物之調查研究，分析其出生年、年齡、祖籍、居住地、身份等，獲得若干南投縣歷史的新認識。如人物的祖籍以漳州府的漳浦、南靖、平和三縣最多；此一情形，至今不變。如居住地最多的依序為草屯、竹山、名間、南投，正是乾隆中葉番界的西側地區，也即南投縣境最早合法開墾之地。如人物中有科舉功名的接近半數，可見在清代科舉是提升身份地位最有效的途徑；而文舉人到咸豐五年才出現，可知南投縣文教發展較為遲滯。 | |

| dc.description.translationabstract | This study investigates dates of birth, ages of decease, origins of family, places of residence and identities of forty-two significant figures in Natou County in Ching Dynasty. By the investigation, this study recognizes some new information of these celebrities in Nantou County. For example, the major origins of these celebrities’ families are Zhanpu, Nanjing and Pinho County. The condition remains the same for _x000D_ the significant figures in Nantou County today. _x000D_ As to the places of residence, by statistics, most of them lived in Tsaotun, Zhushan, Mingjang and Nantou (in an order of frequency). These towns were located on the west side of the boundary in the mid Chanlong period between the territories of the Han people and the aborigines, and were the several earliest legitimatized areas for _x000D_ reclamation for the Han people. Among these forty-two figures, about half of them had an official rank through imperial examinations. By this fact, the imperial examinations were proved to be the _x000D_ most effective means for ones to promote their social rankings then. Also, by the fact that the first official position, rather than military officers, was assigned as late as in the fifth year of the XianFong period, the educational developments in Nantou County were also confirmed to be rather stagnant than other counties in Taiwan. A lot of social conditions of Nantou County in Ching Dynasty still call for research, which may require more endeavors from historians in the future. | |
