Abstract In the bustling metropolis, transportation hubs serve as vital nodes. Millions of people pass through these hubs daily, transferring between various modes of transport to reach their destinations. However, the communities surrounding these hubs often become overlooked corners, resembling isolated islands amidst the urban landscape, forming urban enclaves. Community centers are typically located on the periphery of cities, separated from the bustling downtown by an invisible divide. Due to the nature of transportation hubs, most people are merely transient passersby, rarely stopping to linger. Consequently, the communities surrounding transportation hubs often give off a desolate impression. These areas lack connections with surrounding communities, making it difficult for residents to access facilities and services in other parts of the city and increasing the difficulty of travel. Urban enclaves bring about numerous problems. Firstly, community isolation prevents residents from fully utilizing urban facilities and services, increasing the inconvenience of travel. Secondly, the lack of foot traffic and activities from the transportation hub leads to a decline in the vitality and liveliness of these communities, potentially resulting in stagnant commercial activities and the neglect of public facilities. Moreover, due to inadequate transportation accessibility, people are less willing to visit community centers, further exacerbating the isolation of communities and turning these areas into veritable urban enclaves. To address these issues, we aim to reconnect transportation hubs with surrounding communities through human-centered transportation and road planning to revitalize community vitality. We plan to design a series of multifunctional public spaces around transportation hubs, encompassing commercial, recreational, and cultural activities, making these areas a natural extension of the passenger flow at transportation hubs. Such a design can not only promote the economic and social vitality of communities but also enhance a sense of place.
