A Novel Biometric Classifier for Face Recognition

Abstract

This paper proposes a wavelet probabilistic neural network (WPNN) for face biometric classifier. The WPNN combines wavelet neural network and probabilistic neural network for a new classifier model. A simple and fast training algorithm, particle swarm optimization (PSO), is also introduced for training the wavelet probabilistic neural network. In face matching, the IIS face database is used. The experimental results prove the good recognition performance of the proposed method.
