dc.description.abstractIt is well known that a high performance video server plays more and more important role in VOD system design. Thus, in this paper, we have proposed a static content placement method named content segment striping policy (CSSP) to balance the load of the disks, thereby helping to solve a load imbalance problem crucial to archiving maximal server throughput. This scheme is simple and easy to implement. It has been built in our video server management system platform. According to our preliminary performance evaluations, we have found that our policy can decrease the reject probability of requests and improve the service capacity of video server (more than 90% of maximal service capacity) effectively compared with other similar methods.
