Mining Complete User Moving Paths in a Mobile Environment

Abstract

In a mobile computing environment, analyzing the moving patterns of the mobile users can help understand the behavior of the users. Although a number of researches have been done on the analysis of moving patterns of users, they focused primarily on location tracking or discovering the cyclic moving patterns. However, in real applications, there exist more types of user moving patterns that have not been explored yet. In this paper, we propose a new data mining method that can discover complete moving paths of the users, which include the cyclic, non-cyclic and backward patterns in terms of user’s movement records.
