On the Lossless Compression of Still Images

Abstract

This paper presents a new algorithm for lossless still image compression using a new scheme：based-switching (BS). Then given image is partitioned into non-overlapping fixed-size subimages. Different subimages then get different compression rations according to the base values of ht subimages. In order to increase the to compress gray-value images (or a color component of color images). In Section 2 we review the JBIG and Lossless compression ratio, a hierarchical technique is also used. It is found that the compression ratio of the proposed algorithm can compete with that of the international standard algorithms known as JBIG and Lossless JPEG. The math theory needed to build up the proposed compression scheme is also provided.
