Design of a Network Layer Protocol Transformer Between IP and ATM

Abstract

Recently, network grows explosively and its scope extends rapidly so tha t the interconnection and communication between each type of network are more important. This paper presents a technique and its hardware implementation for network layer protocol transform between IP and ATM. Experimental results show that the proposed architecture can quickly transform the data format between IP and ATM network to meet the real-time requirement.
