dc.description.abstractFew studies focused on the practical performance evaluation of OVSF multicodeallocation system in WCDMA. This paper proposes a model for evaluating the performance. From the model, we derive the expressions of call blocking probability and bandwidth utilization, both of which are two important performance measures in the system. Simulation results present that the measures seem to work. Subsequently, we apply the measures to solve a utilization optimization problem in consideration of network planning. As a consequence, the proposed model can approximately evaluate a multicode-allocation system, which should be useful for WCDMA networks.
