dc.description.abstractIn this paper,we conduct simulation experiments to study a mobile phone call services using service nodes. An analytic model for the non-prepaid and prepaid services has been developed to verify the computer simulations. We observe that the traffic ratio of prepaid calls has significant effect on the system performance. Our experiments also show that there exists a threshold point such that beyond this point, increasing the number of mobile switching center ports (service node ports or the radio channels)does not improve the system performance. Furthermore,two priority assignment schemes,namely,scheme PP(prepaid calls as the priority calls)and scheme NP (non-prepaid calls as the priority caiis)are compared based on a revenue function. Our results indicate that PP is better than NP when the prepaid charge rate and the prepaid traffic ratio are higher than a threshold.
